Wildwood 2200 Unit Emergency Medical Unit
The 2200 Unit is wildwood's emergency medical unit. It is comprised of member of the community
who volunteer to help during medical emergencies. There are several medical personnel involved,
as well as many laypersons who also volunteer their time. Meeeting are the last Thursday of every
month at 7pm, and are open to all interested person, regardless of training or background.
The purpose of the organization is to help the residents during a medical emergency. Patients
are assessed by the RN-on-call, and if an ambulance is needed, on can be on-scene within 12-14
minutes. During this time, basic medical care, CPR, and oxygen can be administered, dressings
applied and woulds cleaned, as well as having support for any family members present.
The Unit is equipped with the most up-to-date medical equipment, such as an External
Dfibrillator, and a portable cardiac monitor, and there is a helipad within the community which can
be used for more major emergencies. All the equipment and medical supplies come entirely
from donations from the community, and the Unit exists entirely on these donations. Members
are unpaid volunteers who are on-call 7 days a week, 24 hrs. a day.
